The Hike & Bike Japan series is a series of walking and bicycle cultural-travel guides to Japan’s unseen Old Highways and Rural Roads. Each book focus on one specific trail and gives you all the insight and information not only to walk or ride the trail but to truly understand the past, present and future of the areas you travel through and to assist you in better connecting to the culture of the destination.

All of our Hike & Bike Japan travel guides are edited and published with Papersky magazine and their talented editors and photographers. Papersky has been publishing travel pieces on Japan and the world in it’s print magazine since 2002. In addition, to Papersky’s experience with finding the essence of a place the magazine also has experience in finding and re-discovering the roads and trails of Japan via the magazines Tour de Nippon bicycle events. And via the eyes and experience of Papersky’s chef editor, Lucas Badkte-Berkow, who as an avid bicycle rider and walker has hiked and ridden much of Japan over his 22 plus years publishing magazines.
